Chiang Mai as the second largest city in Thailand is home to small number of Muslims. They are Bangali Muslims which is centred on An-Nur Mosque (Chang Puak and South Changklan areas) and Yunnanese Muslims which is centred on Ban Hau Mosque (Ban Haw and Shanpakhoi areas).
A number of halal food shops and restaurants can be found in the surrounding of the Mosque. And it has good selections of halal Thai, Chinese, Indian, Arabic, Pakistani and Lebanese food.
Below are some places where you can easily find them.
1. Halal Street Hilal Town (Ban Haw Mosque area)
Address; Chareonprathet Rd. Lane 1 Chiang Mai
This area is very popular among Muslim travelers as it is halal food hub in Chiang Mai. There are a lot of halal food shops serving Thai-Chinese food around this area. One of my favorite menus here is Khao soi (the most famous curry noodles in Chiang Mai). Never miss it when you visit Chiang Mai.
2. An-Nur Mosque area
Address; About 100 meters from Chang Puak Gate Chiang Mai
Unfortunately, we were here when all the restaurants Closed. So, we just found this Thai street snacks vendor near the Mosque.
Please feel free to read it here, Our first day in Chiang Mai; no halal restaurants open.
3. Anusarn Market – Night Bazar
